Emergency Calling on Waffle

Every Waffle device can call Triple Zero (000) at any time. Emergency calling is on by default, cannot be turned off, and works even during school hours, quiet hours, and any restrictions you have set.

How to call 000 on Waffle Go

Waffle Go is the portable phone for kids on the go.

  • Press and hold the call button and power button together for 5 seconds.
  • When SOS appears on screen, press the call button to dial 000.
  • Connects over WiFi or mobile data, so it works away from home.
  • Shares GPS location where available. Because Waffle Go is portable, your child may still need to tell the operator where they are.
  • Works during school hours, quiet hours, and any restrictions you have set.

How to call 000 on Waffle Home

Waffle Home is the WiFi landline for kids at home.

  • Dial 000 on the handset keypad.
  • Connects over WiFi only. There is no cellular fallback.
  • Uses your registered service address so responders know where to go.
  • Works during quiet hours and any restrictions you have set.
  • Important: Waffle Home cannot call 000 if your internet, WiFi, or power is down.

You are notified the moment a call connects

As soon as an emergency call connects, the Waffle Parent Hub sends you a push notification. The notification includes the device's location where available.

Important information

Registered address

Waffle Home uses the address registered to your account when connecting to emergency services. Keep your registered address up to date in the Waffle Parent Hub, especially if you move.

Power and internet outages

Waffle devices require power and a working internet connection to function. If your internet or power is down, Waffle Home cannot make emergency calls. Waffle Go can still connect over mobile data if mobile coverage is available.

Third-party call routing

Emergency calls are routed through Telstra's Emergency Call Service and third-party carriers. Once a call leaves the Waffle network, it is outside Waffle's control.

Liability

Waffle is not liable for any failure, delay, misrouting, or unavailability of emergency calling services.

Waffle is not a substitute for traditional emergency services

We recommend keeping a working traditional phone in your home as a backup. In any emergency situation, always call 000 directly if you can.
